Happy New Year!!
2026, doesn’t that sound like a date from a Sci-Fi novel? We are here. May this year bring you health, happiness and new opportunities into your life.
While January is the usually the coldest month of the year, it is useful for some things. It gives us the opportunity to rest and reset, or catch-up on tasks and projects inside. In our free days, with the wind howling outside the window, there is very little pull to go out. Instead, we are given guilt-free days to spend how we like.
January feels like a meditative or self-reflective month. Things slow down from the December busyness. A precious afternoon with a cup of tea and a good book does wonders for the soul. We have permission to do little but enjoy much.
New Year, New Raffles!
January is also the time to enter NFRA’s Springtime 50/50 Raffle for Draw #1 of 2026!

In December, NFRA was pleased to present Meaghan Fornier, the winner of NFRA’s 50/50 Draw #4 for 2025, a cheque for $4305.00!
Meaghan is Neebing Emergency Services very own Deputy Chief of Medical. One of our very hard-working volunteers who this draw supports with equipment, training supplies and other gear.
We will catch up with Meaghan and get her photo with the Big Cheque to include in next month’s Neebing News.

While NFRA were at the Municipal Office for this last draw, we were given a Sneak Peak inside the Decontamination Bay, being constructed:
It is HUGE inside, bigger that it looks from the outside (is it a Tardis? 😊)
The top section will be gear and equipment storage while the floor level will contain the HD washer and dryer for dirty bunker gear, washer/dryer for contaminated base layer clothing, showers and change rooms for NES personnel to progress through until everything, and everyone, is clean. What an amazing facility to help our brave, dedicated volunteers stay healthy and safe.

YOU helped us set 2 new records in 2025!
- Metal and Cans!! 2025 was our biggest year ever in proceeds from Can Sorts, Metal collections, and more that Kris coordinates for us!
‘Can’ you believe this?? It’s thanks to Kris,quietly working on this project for the past 15 years, that’s it’s become so successful. Of course, we couldn’t do it without the wonderful volunteers that come out to sort and count cans.
What a year!!

- Bake Sale events. NFRA’s first recorded Bake Sale event in 2008 had net proceeds of $354.98.
Our incredible 2025 Cookie & Treat Sale event, with a very successful Penny Auction netted us $3,807.46!
