As we look to the start of another school year, and we enjoy the opportunity to once again sit around a campfire, we can look back on an eventful, and at times worrisome, summer. But through it all, our Neebing Emergency Services were there to help. And they are able to do their job because we, as a community, support them. It’s a very positive feedback loop!
This past summer, NFRA was grateful for two events that contributed to our fundraising
On July 18th, seven young entrepreneurs set up a “Treat Stand” at Oliver Lake and raised nearly $1300 in support of the NES and the Gillies Volunteers Firefighters! They sold lemonade, slushies and baked goods supported by their parents and anonymous baker elves! Based on their success, I’d say we need to get these young people on our fundraising committee! What a fabulous contribution!
On August 23rd, the NFRA crew provided a BBQ to the hungry fisher people at the Annual Little Trout Fish Derby. Our thanks to the LRCA and the organizing committee for inviting us to participate. Thanks to donations from Superstore and Old Dutch, we were able to raise nearly $500 at this event.

Upcoming and Ongoing Fundraisers in Support of Neebing Emergency Services
As we continue to support upcoming NES purchases, several fundraisers are on the go. More information can always be found on our Facebook page (NFRAevents) and our website www.neebingfirerescueassociation.com.
1. We continue to gratefully accept donations of aluminum and steel cans as well as beer, liquor and wine bottles at both our landfill sites. We continue to hold sorting events – contact nfraevents@gmail.com if you’d like to join us.
2. The firewood raffle is in full swing! Tickets can be found at several locations (see website and poster in this edition). The draw is scheduled for September 23 at the Municipal Office. Thanks to Chaschuks for supplying the birch wood!
3. Our next 5050 quarterly draw also happens on September 23. The average prize for the past few draws has been in excess of $3000 with several pots closer to $5000. But it doesn’t get there without people buying tickets. This is a great way to support the NES and have a chance for some extra cash in your pocket!
4. The NFRA website also has a “storefront” designed to directly outfit the new Decontamination Facility (easily seen from the highway as you pass by the Municipal Office). Browse the array of large and small items, make your selection, donate the amount for the item you chose, and we will take care of the purchase and delivery to the facility. You will receive a charitable donation receipt in the mail after your purchase.
5. Finally, we are always thankful to those folks who make charitable donations. Recently, many people have responded directly due to the wildfire situation. Your donations and positive messages make a huge difference to our NES team and we thank you!
